The famous “Festival de Cannes”…
The “Mostra internazionale d’arte cinematografica” of Venice is a film festival held in Venice between end of August & beginning of September in “Lungomare Marconi”, Lido of Venice. It’s the oldest Cinema Festival in the world, since 1932, challenged then from the “Festival de Cannes” created on this purpose.
In Venice this festival is part of a great meeting of Contemporary Arts…
Prize for the winner consists of a Golden Lion…
In Cannes it’s “La Palme d’or”, a golden palm; in Berlin, it’s a Golden Bear…and everyone forgets the famous “Golden Star” of Marrakech International Film Festival, whose eighth Edition was celebrated in November 2008, ignoring how is the sky of Marrakech, a wonderful transparency full of billion of Brilliant Stars….
Cannes, Venice and Los Angeles’ Oscars are supposed to be the most important places of Cinema in the World… If those festivals are able to free people, countries, men and women, we are happy…
… in Cannes a very invasive Tunisian woman brought “OULED LENINE” - Documentary/ “Sons of Lenine” (and she’s going to face great problems on her return in Benali’s system), like the Chinese man with gays and like the Iranian with “Les Chats Persans”, who has to leave Iran definitively Iran, after this movie, singing the beauty of Music… but, it’s a crime to make a film on this matter, as Music gives happiness and joy to young people!!!
So, as a member of the Jury of the 8th Edition of the International Film Festival of MARRAKECH, November 2008, I’m proud that Morocco welcomes more than 300 festivals (Cinema, Music, Theatre, Painting and so on…); I didn’t feel not even one minute something like censorship or forbidden subjects and this is in Arabic, Islamic, African area…
And as an Italian, very concerned about what Italy offers to the world, I pray all the artists, at world-wide level, to defend Freedom, Peace, Beauty and Happiness…
